Would trans from a 81 300td work in a 81 240d
Sons transmission just cratered looking at an 81 td for replacement if it would work. I am not that familiar with the 123 body transmissions. Cheers Dan

speedo is electronic on the 81TD, also, it's bowden cable adjusted, so while it'd bolt up, it would be a challenge to get working.

yeah, my guess is when they went to turbo on the wagon that year, they chose to match the other turbodiesel transmission which was the SD... then by 82, they had adapted the 123's transmission to handle the power...
just a guess of course.
