what seats do I have?
When I recently purchased a 1987 300TD the PO included a set of later model leather front seats that he had wanted to swap into the car. I tried fitting them the other day and the bracket bolt holes are about an inch narrower on each side, i.e. for the front left bolt the bracket lands about an inch to right of the original bolt hole.
Other than that they look like later model leather w124 seats (I used to have 94 e320 wagon). One of the plugs is a bit different, I think due to them not having the memory function. Anyone know what model they might have originally been from? |

I put late leather seats in my dad's 1990 300D. Make sure the tracks are properly aligned, I had one that I initially thought the frame was bent due to the holes not lining up but then I realized that one track had slipped when I was powering them with a drill battery at the yard. I reset them and it fit fine. You should be able to switch over motors and controller and harness from memory to non-memory seats if needed, or even use the tracks or frames from your current seats.

Based on this thread w124 heated seats!! and the pics w124performance.com I'm pretty sure I'm dealing with E420 seats.
So I think I could potentially swap the motorized seat base from the 300TD seats to the E420 seats, but I'm have trouble confirming that. |

To answer my own question, yes you can swap the seat bases. Turned out to be pretty easy, at least compared to my experience with removing the seat bases on w123 seats.
