Technical data req'd OM617 IP specifications

G'day All,

Does anyone know how I can get hold of some MW and MW/RSF technical data that shows in great detail how much fuel should be delivered to the injectors at specific rpms?

Ideally I want the specifications / data sheet that the injection pump "tuners" use on their flow benches.

Who publishes this sort of information? (Bosch I guess - but in which book?)

I've found lots of information about tuning IPs - for example ForcedInduction has done this one

Injection Pump fuel adjustment for the MW and M pumps, pyrometer install - Mercedes Forum - Mercedes Benz Enthusiast Forums

but I haven't found stock flow rates / pressures / % allowable differences between each output etc

Wouldn't the pump supply the same amount of pressure at all RPM. Since the injectors are set to open at a specific pressure, it doesn't make sense to me that the pump would increase pressure with RPM. The flow rate will change with RPM, since the pump is moving faster.

The supply pressure will change depending on the flow rate of diesel. Basic fluid mechanics dictate this.
For an injector pump working properly, the supply pressure should not have a significant effect on the flow as the pump is a positive displacement pump.

I suspect Army is wanting to disassemble his injector pump & rebuild it. Problem is that one really needs a proper calibration test bench to do this. There are threads on here about this.

Here is how a calibration sheet looks like (PES4M pneumatically governed). I`ve seen other calibration sheets of different manufacturers(incl.russian)-they all look similar to a great extent. Will try to find the relevant 300D sheet, but it would look even poorer.

Wow - thank you very much - that is exactly the sort of information I was on about.

Where did you get them?

Ah ha you (almost) know me so well!

Once I've worked out what I need to measure the next big winter project will be to make my own test bench... I'm already on the look out for 4 stroke lawn mower engines!

Go to it man. As far as I know another poorly/undocumented adventure. I can't be of much help, though I have rebuilt a VW Bosch VE pump and it was pretty easy (lots of documentation for these, but not very useful for the inline pump)

The Fuel Injection Pump test info used to be rather guarded information.

Find out what Bar the Guys from the local Bosch certified Fuel Injection Shop hang out at and make some Friends.
Or if they have any good looking Ladies working there that have access to the info make a Girl Friend.
Alls fair in Love and...........

In the old days they used Graduated tubes in cubic centimeters and there was a counter you set to X amount of strokes and it fed the Fuel to the Graduates for that many Strokes.
The Newer Test Stands us Flow Meters.

Thanks Jeff,

Do you mean this one?

Technical data book 1983 (English) - Technical data books Technical literature - Mercedes-Benz Classic Store

(I hope that link works => it is called Technical Data Book 1983 {and it is for passenger cars})

I feel a visit to my friendly dealer coming on. I might then be able to identify the book I need to consider buying.
