I've been running a 617.951 in my 53 F100 for amost 4 years and 40K miles. Used the 722.303 trans too. Truck gets around 20-23 MPG alone and 17-18 MPG pulling my 1600lb. teardrop camper.

About 175# more. Does the 750 include starter and manifolds and such?

The 617 is already heavy compared to many motors and in a pickup which is already tending to be nose heavy.....just sayin'.

I just saw this which is an OM314 diesel put into a Suburban which is essentially the same as a pickup body...with a 5 speed manual.

Lots of people swaping out 617's into other cars/trucks.
Start reading here. (scroll down to the mercedes forum)
www.4btswaps.com/forum/forum.php

You can do the swap for really cheap, and also for several thousand. It depends on how you want to tackle the project. Do you want to keep AC from host car? Do you want to make custom oil cooler/filter? custom motor mounts, etc etc.
I have a spare drivetrain out of a 84 300D, and I planned on building a ranger/om617, but had to sell the ranger. So now I just have the motor/tranny on a pallet. I had planned to use a 700r4 with the adapter below. And just ground the lockup switch, so that anytime I hit 4th gear the TC would lock.
If/when the trans goes out in my 300CD i'll probably replace it with a 700R4, and have the driveshaft cut down.

Thanks for the links MrVal. I'm glad to see someone building adaptor kits for these engines.

I'm mid-swap still, putting a 617 into a Ford Courier. I had to start over with the adapter plate, I didn't like the way the pilot bearing was retained. I'm just about done (again) now, just need to get my design turned into a CAD program for the local waterjet cutters to make it out of steel.
Check out Mercedes Diesel swaps on youtube, there's quite a few.

There is also a guy here who stuck one in his 37 GMC-do you know who he is-i lost track.
Also forum member Cell who did his 67 Chevy stepside--I rode in it and have his 292 for one of my projects.
the benz turbodiesel 617weighs about the same as a 61-earlier 231 chevy six or a big block chevy-around 675 lbs.
