radiator leak
i'm starting this as a new post cause i initially brought it up in a post that was talking about numerous other problems (all of which were solved!).
basically, i'm losing coolant. when i look at the radiator it almost looks like its weeping/sweating (passenger side midway up). on the lower lip i can see coolant pooling up. haven't been investigating it long enough, but i bet i'm losing a half inch every two or so days. it was recommended that i get to a radiator shop and have it tested/repaired, but i wanted to check in with folks here one last time just in case its something i can do myself. don't know much about radiators yet (and actually still confused if the green coolant i have in there is a 'no no'). is it worth me putting some barsleak in there just to see if that works before taking it in to pay someone to test it? if i can see it weeping is it even worth having someone test it or should i just buy another one and replace? thanks for any thoughts! |

ADD NOTHING to the Proper Coolant/distilled water mix
The FSMs show (describe) how to mend the Plastic Tank/Intercooler interface.
[I think you're "whistling through the graveyard" even thinking about trying that.] The "Fix" is Replacement with a New Radiator.

how to replace radiator 240D
ok. gonna order a new radiator and replace, but having trouble finding any old posts/links on the 'replacement process'. you mentioned the FSM made a repair seem like a pain in the a## (i'm assuming thats what 'whistling in the graveyard' meant!?!) but I'm wondering if its fairly easy to do a replacement. don't know much about radiators, but read about not having to disconnect 'oil cooler lines' and since i don't even know what/where those are, i'm looking for any guidance! anyone know a good "DIY' link on replacing the rad on a w123?
