Manual Climate Control Instructions

Can someone post the instructions and description of the manual climate control? Maybe a scan out of the manual that comes with the cars? The one that came with mine is in German. Or can someone just explain how you use it, i.e., what is the arrow slide thing in the center, how do i get A/C only, no heat, which side is "more" feet or "less" feet, etc. Thanks!

This thread I think at post# 9 are some pictures of the controls.

240D Two Middle Vents

It really simple. the slider controls the volumn of air to the defroster. (windshield) the farther toward the defrost side, the greater volumn of air.

slide it towards the down arrow, (to the right) the volumn of air is increased to the front foot well and rear footwells, and nothing to the defrost.

my 80 240 has just this one slider. 82 & 83 have 2 sliders. not sure when the change to the 2 sliders was. 81 or 82. so 81 may be like the 80.

the 3 knobs below the slider are for the heat and blower motor.
the knobs with the red arrow are for the heat. when they are at the 6 o`clock position, the heat is turned off. when turned (clock wise) the head is increased to the maximun at 12 o`clock, straight up. the left side if for the driver, and the right side is the control for the passenger.

the center knob is the 3 positions for the blower motor.

above the slider is the AC control knob. it may be a wheel that is turned for AC. 82 & 83 have this. my 80 has a knob. turn it to the right ( clock wise) and it turns on the AC.

my Ac doesn`t work, so when i turn the knob, I get full air flow out the 2 side vents, and nothing on the floor.

the 2 center vents are only fresh air, and it is controled by the slider above the AC control knob. no heat comes out this vent.

Mercedes benz should not have ventured away from this simple system.
