1996 E300 diesel - Seat does not go all the way forward

I started having a problem with the drivers seat after I put it down to sleep a few days ago. I can put it back up a certain amount, but it goes no further and it is annoying to drive leaning back.

I think the switch is ok because I can still move the seat part of the way - But it just stops when it is about 2/3rds of the way back up. All of the other seat controls work fine.

It doesn't make any odd noises or anything - It is as if the seat only is designed to go up a certain amount. But last week it was working fine.

Do I need to remove the seat now to look under there - Or is there something else I should check first?

I had a 1982 911SC whose driver's seat would never go as far forward as the passenger one, so I couldn't ever get my wife to drive it. One bored Saturday I unbolted the seat and tracks from the floor to see if I could understand the mechanism. There was an ancient quarter ($0.25) wedged in the seat track so beautifully that it almost looked as though the German engineers had designed it that way to limit travel.

Just a thought.
