Retrofitting a 124 console arm rest into a 123

Anyone ever put a console arm rest from a 124 into a 123? I found one today that has a compartment inside the arm rest, and I want to try to fit it into my 123.

Do you mean the console box with the roll-up door? If so, I just purchased one from another member but I haven't done anything with it yet due to the winter temperatures (and I have to dye or paint it, as it's not a match to my interior).

Nope it's the arm rest that opens.

Though I think those wood roll top console boxes are pretty cool too.

he's talking about the fold down arm rest from a 94/95 124. the top opens up giving storage additional to the roll top center console bin.

I got it to fit. Painted it with black vinyl paint and it's going to match perfectly, and looks stock. Y'all are going to be jealous. I'll get some pics tomorrow when I get it installed.

Uh oh, we might be disappointed now if you come up with anything less than a very detailed DIY, that includes how to remove one from a donor

Poor w124 owners will be wondering why all the donor armrests are gone from PNPs

Ha ha... can't handle the suspense!

The purple on the seat is the exposure of the pic. No purple spots on my seat.

I've been looking for one for quite some time.

It almost bolted right up. I has to use some other holes that were in the chair frame. I also had to grind a little to get it into the right place, or at least a little closer to where the original one went. I didn't want to screw up the holes for the original arm rest in case this one didn't work, or I decide to put the original back in.

Here is a bad pic of the inside. The metal bracket that came with the 124 arm rest wouldn't fit completely, so I had to cut one of the three anchor points off. But it still seem good and solid.

I had it easy with a black interior. I first got glossy black vinyl paint but it was too glossy. So I got the flat, which matches perfectly. It still has a bit of a shine to it, but a little faded like it's 35 years old.

Here's one in a 201.

It's easy, you just remove the seat back and unbolt the armrest. In a 201 you need to alter it a bit by putting sleeve out of the old armrest and fitting it over the internals of the 124 rest. It's simple and very intuitive.
