water seperator

I am considering trying adding a 30%mix of filtered waste vedgtable oil into my diesel fuel in the summer. Someone with experience in this reccomended installing a water seperator first. This seems like some good insurance even with standard fuel. What are some good (read: cheap) sources for a water seperator?
Is this possibly something you can pull off a truck in a junkyard?
Thanks
Eric Z

VW Diesels of the '80s (like my '85 Jetta) had them as standard

complete with a drain nozzle and a warning light system.

Are you referring to an in-line water separator that you can fit into the fuel line? I found one at an auto wrecker; it is made by Racor and I paid $25 CDN for it. Racor has a websire, but I have not recorded the address. Just search using the keyword "Racor".

Try UD Or ISUZU Truck dealership. both have sensor and a drain plug at the bottom. they may cost more than after market..

I purchased a water separator from NAPA years ago after the local gas station kept serving up fuel with water in it. It came with a spin off filter with a drain at the bottom.

Can't remember the cost but am sure it was under $25.00

That sounds like the Racor unit.
