Blowing fuses from windows
Drivers side front does not operate. The right rear has been disconnected since the previous owner(shoved a tire brush to hold the glass up). So the drivers side is kaput. The window has been moving slow so I think the motor has finally ate it. Correct?

Might just need an adjustment where the window bolts to the regulator. If the window has shifted, it may be binding enough to stop the motor. Also, the motor may be gunked up enough to not turn. I had to pull all the motors from my SD when I got it and free up the gears in the motors and relubricate, then all worked fine.

I'll check it out. Both the front windows have been slow

Just changed my front left regulator (the drive gear had finally eaten the aluminum reduction gear) and found that if the window mount was bolted forward of the edge of the regulator, the window went very slowly, but when the edges were lined up, I got a nice smooth operation from top to bottom. Your mileage may vary.... good luck

How are the window switches removed from the plastic frame they reside in? I cannot seem to find it in the FSM.

You've been here 7 years and you still can't figure out that you need to state VEHICLE YEAR AND MODEL if you want a proper answer by anybody who actually knows something.

Tom W. is now the proud owner of the 240 - I have to assume that this is a w124 question.

People who "assume" when working on electrical problems usually end up with lots of smoke getting out of the wires...

They are tough. The one in these pictures stopped moving. Owner was considering a new MB motor $284.00 at the dealer. I opened it, and found it was full of ice. Warmed under a heat lamp for a few hours, assembled and tested no function. Opened and lubricated thoroughly with ATF, reassembled, tested installed, and it works at 90% speed under load again. . |

The left rear window sometimes will operate. I have to keep pressing the switch and then it will work. Which is why I suspect the switch. |

2. Remove the Phillips screw(s). 3. Tilt the piece the screws hold up. 4. Pull switches straight up. I wouldn't suspect the switch until I fixed the faulty wiring going to the door switch. Have you repaired the wiring that goes to the rear window switches yet? If not how come?

the right rear window is screwed up from the PO
I'm tearing into the drivers door now. The door card has to be replaced since years of large people leaning on the arm rest have trashed it. The FSM says to lower the window to remove the lift unit... kind of hard when it blows fuses left and right. |
