Easy, but with different parameters.

'99 E300TD summers (operative A/C)
'83 300D winters ( inop A/C )

Otherwise, I would rely on either car to make a 3000 mile trip.

I only have 3 so it's not that hard, but ... 300D is basically my daily driver, though the Jeep has gotten a lot more miles than usual the last year or so. I take the Jeep if: 1) I need 4wd, 2) I need large cargo space, 3) If I'm working on the 300D. Also, I've taken the Jeep on all my rock and roll road trips, mainly because of a combination of parking in dodgy areas, piling friends and luggage in and out, and just generally my tendancy to worry too much about my baby. I plan to take the 300D on a trip or two this spring, though. But generally, if it's decent out, I use the 300D. My drive to work is 14 miles each way, mostly highway.
The 240D, assuming I ever, ever fix its coolant leak, I tend to drive once every week or two, usually on a few errands (longer ones to give the car a good run) or to work. As of now it's sat since late June. I did use it as a daily driver last winter for a bit when my 300D was sitting up with the subframe out and my poor Jeep was getting it's nose rebuilt after a deer run-in, and it did quite well all things considered. Overall I'm pretty lucky with my trio ... but I think I could easily fit another toy into the equation. Or two or three more.

300D - carport/garage queen - used once a week or twice a month
190E - wife's car - driven daily but is the least reliable of the three
Subaru Forester - our car - driven daily by me so I can preserve the 300D

If the 190E is down, I take the reigns of the 300D and my wife takes the Subie. She never takes the 300D, she says it's too big and too slow

Purely by my observation on this forum, it seems that you just let them sit.

Eventually someone from a local government agency will come along and let you know when they need to be moved.

It is a service they provide (at least in NC).
