240D Transparent Fuel Line Replacement Tips?

Hi guys,

I would like to replace some of the plastic transparent fuel lines going to the fuel filter and IP. I like the idea of using the transparent lines.

Has anyone found a reasonable replacement for the transparent lines, and if so, are there any tips/tricks for replacement?

Thanks,

PE

If you like, look in the local junk yards. Of course, they'll be just as old. Be sure to use new crush washers.

To remove the old ones heat them just enough to soften them with a Butane Ligther or Candle a d yank them off. If you over heat them the Plastic melts and glues itself to the Barb.
I cannot help with the rest as I replaced mine with 1/4" Rubber Fuel Hose and clamps.

There is one thread where someone replace the Plastic Tubing with the American version of the tubing which is yellowish in color. The issue was that tubing had to be heated and shoved onto the barbs.
For myself I was not sure how you would tell how much to heat it. If over heated it is not going to seal.

On another forum a member just went to the Hardware store and picked some clear plastic tubing and shoved it on. He did no research to see if it was something correct for the application he was using it for.

X2 on the tygon. Its used in 2cycle equipment, Very, very chemical resistant, and see through yellow. Easy to push onto barbed fittings. You can find it at a lawn and garden store as well.

I use 1/4" nylon tubing. I get it from GreaseWorks, but they are local so it's easy for me to stop in and pick up some. Here is link to what I get. I've got some on my work bench awaiting install in my 240. The new clear line is nice for seeing any air bubbles going through the system.

When I replaced mine, I lightly heated the barbed fitting while holding in a soft jawed vise and pushed the line onto it. worked great.
