Nicest W116 Diesel I've ever seen
Manual transmission and manual climate control with Euro lights and bumpers, and rear headrests no less. Shipping cost must be pretty steep.

Says 1979 Mercedes-Benz S-Class 300 SD though I'm seeing 450SE on the rear.
Nice lookin' car though.

Must be a conversion. I wouldn't touch it without lots of underhood pictures.

Must be a 280 with a 450 trunklid and a diesel motor? No tach, early style center vent slider, no headlight leveling switch...
Manual windows and manual heat. Doesn't look like an AC car. Lose the rims and you have a clean 116 ![]() Price is a little out there...

Frankencar, albeit a nice one. Well on the outside.
But the asking price is an insanely optimistic fishing expedition. Frankencars, even in that condition, are worth less than the original. If he had a 450se in that shape a nostalgic German might give him top dollar for it. But any German who has that kind of money to put out for a w116 doesn't care about the fuel costs, so the diesel is a moot point. I'm not sure if the 450se could be had with a stick on the far side of the big pond, I believe the 350se could. I agree that the original car was probably a 280se, with the badging now changed.
