Lemforder Engine Mounts
Following up on my last thread, I was looking for mounts for my 81 240D, but couldn't find Lemforder. Was worried that the other brands may be third world copies and not the same quality. I was pretty sure from my engine mount job on my 300CD, of which some pics of new and old mounts are here:
That the OE mounts that I had bought from the dealer were indeed Lemforder. So after verifying that 300D mounts can be used on 240D cars, I ordered Lemforder mounts from Phil for $26 instead of $134 for OE. I just got them today. Found that they were made in Turkey. Some images: I'm pretty sure that down to the two blue dots (which aren't shown in the pics from my last job, but that I remember as being there, and they are also referenced in 27-211 of the FSM), these are OE mounts. They certainly have a 123 part number cast in the rubber. So not German, but made in Turkey.

I am thrilled when I can get Turkish parts rather than Chinese these days (sigh). I recall buying , I think, Meyle mounts 10 years ago and when I got them you could see when the star had been ground off- obviously made to be resold by MB.

I just got a set of rear links by Meyle and they were all made in Germany and look to be the highest quality!
Also purchased Lemforder rear subframe mounts that are made in France by ZF services ZF Friedrichshafen AG | Startseite | Antriebstechnik und Fahrwerktechnik

One of our Members pointed out that the Lemforder Mounts are actually made by Phoenix (spelling?) and has that logo on it.
Also where the Mounts were made is found here: Fight Back; Post/List Where The Parts You Bought Were Made Fight Back; Post/List Where The Parts You Bought Were Made - PeachParts Mercedes ShopForum

Thanks. Not sure who Phoenix is, but of they are built to the same quality, durometer rubber, etc., then I guess ok.
At least it isn't China...

Quote:
There is at least 2 Internet Part Sellers who sell the Motor Mounts under the Phoenix name. What I found odd is that I was reading a book that mentioned Turkey as the "Sick Man Of Europe"; so gather from that Turkey is considered part of Europe. Till I read that I had always considered it part of the Middle East.
