3.5L Injectors in a 3.0L?

I have a 3.0L in a 87 300SDL, and I have a few 3.5L, but one has a bent rod, but the injectors only have about 17,000 miles on them. I have a leaking injector in the 300SDL, and was wondering, can I just replace those injectors as a set with the injectors from a 3.5L out of a 1991 350SDL?

Thanks.

I doubt it.Injectors are made for a certain engine. Now I've heard of mixing VW diesel injector parts with a 617 turbo.

The nozzles are the same, the bodies are not (the ones on the 3.5 have different threads).

If the injector threads are the same in my opinion and the threaded body length identical .They may be okay. The pop off presure requirements for both engines are the same I imagine or close enough.

If one type have a larger nozzle it is not that much larger. I would check to see if the replacement nozzles for both series of injectors quote the same part number.

The displacement of both engines is close enough they may be the same part. Superficially if the conditions above are met one set should replace the other. I am not sure of course as there may be something I am missing.

If this is so and I expect it is you could have the newer nozzles installed in the old injectors. They should be pop pressure tested though as well if this is done

. Perhaps easier and cheaper overall just to buy or find one injector to replace your problamatic one for now. Thats if money is a concern.

The older (#14) heads have the threads up higher on the injector bodies. The newer heads have the threads down at the base of the injector. I don't believe your 3.5 injectors will work on the 3.0 head. I have a set of good 3.0 injectors if you get stuck.

I believe they will if you swap the 3.5 head onto the 3.0 engine.
