Well that is not correct and I don't think it will stop runaway. However most runaways are in the two cycle engine. Patbob, the engine can't get fuel from any other source except through the injectors. I has to be your shut off valve, either a bad adjustment or it needs replacement.

Co2 is available for paintball guns right. Could be a affordable solution.

I have a friend who owns a fire extinguisher company so he set me up with a commercial quality co2 extinguisher. Hopefully I never have to use it.

I think Southern Yellow Pine would be good for the "Cover the Turbo Air Inlet" solution. It's both soft enough to deform to seal and yet strong enough not to crack under the strain. Maybe a 2X6 Paddle shaped piece of wood would do it.

Thanks all.

For those that are interested, I've finally gotten a chance to do a small amout of diagnostics... which I'm posting over in the appropriate thread (runaway at idle? (long)) since this one was meant to be only about using welding gas to snuff the engine.
