Replacing Heater Control Valve on 1983 240D

Hi,
Its been a while since I have posted here because I have not had any major issues till now.

Need to replace the heater control valve on my 83 240D. The valve that controls the driver side heat is sticking badly. The part is $60 or so from my local Benz dealer. Is it a simple swap (unhook the cables, the hoses, and replace and reattach everything) or is it more complicated. I know I will loose some radiator fluid as well. This is pure mechanical, right? It is not a part of the vacuum system, etc?

Any guiddance or "heads up" anybody can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

If this is the heater valve you are talking about then, yes it's a simple swap. Pull the hoses and cables, remove the valve, and put everything back on. Then you'll have to add a little coolant, but you shouldn't loose too much.
You might first check to make sure the hose clamps are tight and that there is no build up on the ports keeping the hoses from sealing properly.

If all goes well it will probably only take you 30mins. Once it's re-installed crank up the heat in the cabin and go for a drive to purge out the air, and then fill up the radiator or overflow tank. You probably won't see a drop in the level in the radiator or overflow tank until you drive due to the location of the valve in the system.

In the event the hoses are shot, what's the part number for them? Or the proper name for them?
