81' 300cd rear end noise and rattling

rear driveline and suspension - rear end sounds like something is loose. i'm getting a rattle on what sounds like both sides every time there is a bump in the road and it doesn't have to a very large bump, hole or crack. i've double checked the muffler, lugs and shocks they are secure and the spare tire and jack are fastened down. whatever it is, must be very loose yet i can not pin point it. are the bushings shot? is there something known to get loose over the years. what is the best way to check the rear end for play in suspension components. thanks again.

Inspect the sway bar links, especially the ball joints.
