OM617 injection pump mounting nut stripped, what to do

I advanced my pump timing a bit today and when i went to tighten up the 13mm nut closest to the inner fender it just spins, never gets tight.

Never run into this before, not sure if its a nut or bolt or what it is that could be messed up.

Anyone had this problem before?

It doesnt seem to be leaking much if any, hard to tell now, if it doesnt leak oil i will prolly just leave it alone, but i have a feeling it may start to leak.

Thanks

I guess someone before you overtightened it.

A small Nut Spitter.

Dremel type tool with a those minerature cuting wheels.

Or depending on how much room and how many threads are left sticking out of the Stud you can buy a Metric Rod Coupling and Bolt and make a stud Puller as in the picture.

Sand one end of the Rod Coupling Flat so it will have the Max amount of threads to go on the Stud. Screw the Rod Coupling on and as far as it will go and screw in the Bolt and tighten it a little.
Put the Wrench on the Rod Coupling and see if you can turn the whole Stud and nut assembly out.

i looked at EPC and got the part number for the stud, so does the piece that the stud screws into pivot to allow for movement?

Then how does the pump pivot. I haven't ever pulled an IP before so I'm not familiar with how it mounts

I've got a block in the garage with the pup pulled. I can snap a pic if I get time tomorrow. I can also pull the studs if you like. I typically use 2 nuts back to back but that might not work with your stud. If it's that bad off you might have to pull the pump.

Been trying to get some pics of the parts I've pulled and something is always getting in the way. Those darn pesky jobs.

Also you might want to look at the nut as it might be stripped as well. try replacing that first if you've not tried already.

I didnt have much time, i'll try and get the nut off tomorrow, the more i think about it it may be the nut is stripped rather than the threads on the stud stripped.

A picture would be great, thanks!
