85 300D Valve Cover Issue and more

Just did a valve adjust on my om 617 turbo. No issues there.
What is the trick to getting the valve cover back on? It is making me crazy because this should be easy, it came off easy enough! Any pointers?
Also, I broke a line. It is a hard vac line leading to what I think is a banjo bolt on the back of the intake manifold. did I really snap something or is the attached with a rubber connector type thing like many of the other vac lines? I hoping maybe I just popped off the rubber piece and can use another to connect this line back up. I know it is an important connection having to do with turbo boost.
Thanks Much All
