broke down run away motor
So the MB has been running rough when hot and at a stop sign today it blew a huge cloud of black smoke. I pulled over, shut it down , and the motor raced on. No codes so I fifigure something mechanical went in the IP. Any place good to find a rebuilt unit? Still on the side of the road waiting for a tow.

I would do some serious checking before just assuming it is the injection pump.

could be a dirty air filter, and a bad vacuum connection...

was it on grease or Diesel? is this on your 98?

could also be running on oil from a failed turbo seal
