Engine Weight for 300D in W123
I weighed a non-turbo 300D engine and came up with 567 pounds (no fluids). I used a doctor's scale, weighed various parts, and added the weights up (some rounding was done, so the final weight is within a couple of pounds of 567 if you could weigh the entire engine in one piece). The 567 pounds includes everything attached to the engine (brackets, lines, etc.) including: York AC, alternator, power steering pump, both manifolds, injection pump, starter, fan/water pump, belt pulley, oil pans, flywheel, engine mounts etc., etc. including the torque convertor (no ATF).
Just thought some members would be interested in the engine weight, especially if someone was getting ready to remove the engine and wanted to know what kind of weight they would be working with or against. Tom

Wow, that seems like a heavy engine...
What does a Chevy small block weigh?

With all those accessories, that's light!
A Chevy small block with equivalent equipment would probably be at least 640 lbs, and even a 302 Ford (540 lbs. for motor only) would get close 600.

I subtracted the weight of some parts to get a weight for the engine without accessories - 397 pounds. This weight includes both oil pans, valve cover, injector nozzles, flywheel, harmonic balancer, water pump and housing, oil filter cannister - but does not include AC & bracket, injection pump, alternator & bracket, power steering pump & bracket, belt pulley, both manifolds, torque convertor, starter, fuel pump, etc.
