Well since I don`t live in michigan with your bad winters and live in Calif with our mild winters in comparison. the car looks like it has one tire on a Banana peal, and the other foot on the way to PNP.

The car looks like a genuine beater. as long as you don`t look under the hood, the bottom side or the inside, it looks like a great 20 footer.
Did the PO live in this car, sure is full of crap.

If you do get it, it will be a long term project depending how far you want to take it. It is only time and money.

Sad to see one looking like this, and there was one several months ago in a PNP, (a gasser W114) in almost pristien condition with almost zero rust.

Looks like it has leather seats, must have been an option for it back then.

Roy, with your magical talents, you should have it back on the road in no time.

Well Roy,

I half expected to see daylight through the doors. Until you got to the underside pictures it really looked pretty solid given it's age and the fact it is in Michigan (for those who aren't familiar Michigan winters kill cars!).

Plus, I saw you in one shot , looking good, need to shave.

FYI

Sorted out many issues when they bought it roughly four years ago, + welded in new floor pans and rockers.

Replaced the burnt out original transmission with a 120k PNP unit that is fantastic, about two years ago.

It starts easy, even in cold weather, starter has been replaced.
Surprisingly good power for a naturally aspirated engine.

Here is some video of it running for the first time in six months.
My daughter had fun making these with her new camera.

Runs good, but the body....

After dealing with rust on three of our fleet (and had one get retired from it), I decided I am not touching rusty cars anymore.

The worst of the rust was dealt with when they first got the car.

Yes, my shaver vanished.
Wife/daughter bought me a new one the day after that video.
They said I needed to thin the forest so they could see my face.

What shift are you working?

Comparison from SF, CA

WHunter-
I recently came across this CL ad for a similar car. I only provide this as a point of reference to help you make a decision. There were no photos, though. I am not affiliated with the owner.

1975 Mercedes Benz 300 D

1975 Mercedes Benz 300 D - $1100 (daly city)

Hello, Im selling my fathers 1975 Mercedes Benz 300 Diesel four Door. The car has seen better days thats for sure. We are selling the car because my father is not driving anymore. The engine was recently rebuilt and is in driving well. The paint is original light green with tan interior. The interior is shot, but the price reflects that. This vehicle will out last most cars. Please give me a call if interested. With a little TLC, this car can be a beauty again or use it for parts since its motor is rocking. Sorry, I dont have pictures at this time. Please give me a call if you are interested. 831 421 2970.

Had this failure on a 1972 114 gas four door years ago. Repaired it as well. Those 114 cars could really rust.

personally, ill take the 114/115 rust issues over 123 rust issues.

My experience has been that the 123 heavy anti rust coating makes any rust you find WAY more extensive than it shows, but on the 115/114, what you see is what you get.
