I acquired the eleven blade plastic fan, and the oe clutch from a '98 E300 to install on my OM603. I don't know the condition of the clutch- the car had 80k miles. I figured I would install it and evaluate it's performance before I try to introduce new fluid, or replace it.

My question: The bi-metal spring does not seem to be hel in place all that well- It is easy enough to slide it to one side, and then lift it out. Is something missing? it seems like it would be a probable occurance to have it simply fall off at some point. The clutch is a Horton, and has the MB star. It doesn't appear to be missing any components.
