This rubber boot is torn, what's it called?
I was putting exhaust hangers on the spaces that were missing them when I noticed that there is a rubber boot thing that has torn from the clamp, and a section of fuel line that is leaking slowly.
What is the rubber boot thing called so I can find a new one? Does it being broken mean anything severe? What else would be good to inspect and replace while I'm doing that job? Also how to go about R&R the fuel line? I'll need to drain the tank and get it off and take it in to find out what size it is. Seems too easy, am I forgetting something? When I replace will I need to bleed the fuel line?

CV boot. It needs to be replaced. Yes, you'll need to drain the tank. Search on my username for a thread on how to empty the tank easily.

Kerry correctly stated that the CV Boot must be replaced, but I just want to make sure you know how urgent this is. If you let it go, dirt & grime from the road will destroy the expen$ive joint in very short order.

Would most here re-boot the half-axle in the photo? Or since it tore at some unknown time in the past, would most recommend replacement of the half-axle?

Looks like your fuel line is the original. has the crimp on the end where it screws into the tank.
I would run the tank down to where the reserve light comes on. then use a 6" pair of Vice-Grips on the line to squeeze it off. remove the clamp (left side in picture) and pull the hose off. there will be about 5 gallons in the tank. have several containers to drain the fuel into. place a funnel in the container, point the hose in the funnel, remove the VG and let it flow. when the container gets full, crimp of the hose with the VG. and go to the next container etc... unscrew the hose fitting from the tank. use a Dremel with a cut off wheel, and cut down 2 sides of the crimp, and remove it and the hose will pull off. replace with 5/16 fuel line and a hose clamp. Once you are this far into it, remove the tank strainer with a 1 13/16 socket and clean it. If the screen is partially plugged, be sure to have a large pan to catch the fuel still in the tank. could be 1 - 3 gallons. been there. Charlie

When you get the tank siphoned out as much as possible, jack up the passenger side, you wont have any more fuel come out of the tank when you remove the hose. Cut the brass clamp holding the hose and when you pull the hose off you will find a barbed fitting which will except new hose from the auto parts store. That saves buying new hose with fitting. Fuel leaking on the boot is most likely what damaged it. You might want to check under the hood, driver side, and make sure fuel isn't leaking on the motor mount. I got to replace a motor mount because it was destroyed by leaking fuel, more work than the tank hose.

Broken like in the pic means the assembly is full of road dust and dirt, I would just replace the whole axle, since the amount of work to change just the boot is the same.
