PS High pressure hose stripped.

This PS pump rebuild has been windy at every turn. Finally have it all installed and I'm screwing in the high pressure hose (which is phenomenally awkward) and I notice the thread on the hose is stripped. I try to remove the hose from the steering box but rather than just the nut, the entire attachment is spinning so I tighten and leave it as it is. So the hose is still attached on one end.

Am I out of luck? Autozone has a thread restorer kit I can borrow but not sure if this is a good idea or not. The metal on the hose seems to be made out of soft clay.
