I have seen a black 124 E500 right on the parkway once or twice.

I was usually at the Huntsman facility on Gosling rd.

Probably me. I live 2-3 miles from Huntsman and drive right by there on Gosling almost daily.

Ugh, that didn't last long... the $100 dealer shock I put on the car a few thousand miles ago just blew up while I was stopped in traffic. Perhaps I should use a URO part instead if I'm going to be replacing the shock more frequently than I change the oil

I recall they have a 1 year warranty item on MB dealer parts. Maybe yours still falls within this range.

Maybe URO is the official MB supplier for belt dampers

I rarely change the shock without replacing the arm and pulley..

Three sets in the last month..

If it is not all MB, I won't install these three parts.

Make sure the spacer (washer) is between the timing cover and arm, or it is a disaster waiting to happen.

It has about 20,000 miles on it. I guess it's time to replace it again It amazes me how hard it is getting to find quality parts for these cars. Replacing the belt tensioner, belt, and fan clutch rings in over $500!

I went el cheapo and used a "meyle" arm that comes with its mount pin along with new stabilus shock - dead in 2 months.

pony up money for a new MB arm, pin and shock. (read as --- spensive--).

I also changed the alternator pulley to a clutched style and it has been quiet ever since.

Recently changed the tensioner on the E320 too - litens part. the original one was a bit questionable.

My MB part is still going strong. See post 17 of this thread for what I plan to buy next and why.

As noted above, dealer parts have a 1-year warranty. Get it exchanged.

Also... $100?? Part number is 604-200-03-14, current list price is $38.50, available from the interweb OE dealers for $28-$32 or so. This is a price drop from last year, it had been $61 MSRP, but that is still not $100.

Are URO belt tensioners junk?

At that low price I'd question why anyone would ever even CONSIDER a URO part for this application.

Speaking about part warranties at the dealer.... Has anyone ever successfully returned a URO part under warranty?
