Question What is wrong with the 300CD's rear window?

Hi all,

I tried searching but I couldn't find anything about it. I went to Fastlane and searched for the part (regulator) and it doesn't seem to use one for the tiny rear windows.

My question is, what could be wrong with it?
Is the window simply off track? If that is so, does that mean that I can fix it easily by myself?

Because the motor definitely works, but I need to close the window nice and tight. (Right now I have tape all over it... it looks kinda ugly)

The shop that I went to told me that he called for the part but no one answered.

Thanks,
-Holson-

Well the local MB shop was pretty sure that it's the regulator. I wonder if I should just take the panel off myself and see if I can fix it.

The motor works and actually stops after it 'closes' and 'opens' fully. But, the window just stays there. I need to repair it so that I can close it tightly...

Is taking the interior panel hard?

Thanks

thanks to this forum I've fixed the tachometer myself.. what an easy fix.

You have not stated which side of the car is problematic; all
coupe` C123's have some hand-work at that chassis joining
but remain quite similar. If it is the window lift itself that you
ask about then yes, they wear over time and require replacement.
Now the 123 coupe`when operating properly will reveal a
slight overlap of the rear window against the large passenger
windows. This is as was envisioned by its architects orginally.
An attempt to sealout the elements is gained via rubber welt and
other fabrications. Over time as that coupe` ages it will show
signs of increased warpage and weftages, but should not alarm
unless wind and rain enter the passenger compartment. Your
last notation in re access is surmised correctly but removal of
the rear bench bottom must be done; a skilled practioner with
many excursions to that area wont find it necessary to remove the rear bench backing, but a novice will.
