Under Dash Configuration - 85 300d

I recently acquired an 85 300d and I'm finding all sorts of little suprizes. The most recent happened when I lowered the under dash cover on the driver's side. Laying on the cover is a large metal box (approx. 6"x4"x2") with 2 electrical connections. Now I'm pretty sure its not supposed to be just laying on the under dash cover since it has a really nice mounting bracket, but I sure can't see where it is supposed to go. Anybody have a photo or diagram of where it goes?

I suspect its the cruise control amplifier. It hangs vertically off a 10mm bolt from the bracket supporting the brake pedal. The metal bracket attaches to the amp can and has a threaded insert to accept the bolt.

That sounds exactly like the bracket I'm seeing. I will have to see if I can find where it attaches to the brake pedal support. I expect I will be looking for a hole in the support with enough room to attach the bracket. Knowing it mounts vertically will help. Thanks for the info.
