Question 190D Propshaft joint - need help to identify part

I took the belly pan off the 190D 5-SP and found the part # 2014112147 ( Propshaft joint ) all dis-integrated.

1) What is this part ? Can it be replaced with a flex disk? pic 1
2) Also I can see the spline at the other end of the shaft. It looks like it is 'shifted', is this a problem? pic 2

See pictures below. 2014112147 shows as Propshaft in most foreign web-site when I google it. The dealership said it is a bad number ??

Its a vibration damper mounted in line with the flex joint. Remove it. MB eliminated these on later W201s. It can fail and cause severe damage to the drive shaft and transmission. More info here.

Broken driveline parts. - 190 Revolution
What is the fix? Leaving it out as suggested in the link? How about the overall length of the drive shaft if it is left out?

Yes. You can adjust the driveshaft length at the center spline to make up for it. It only takes up about 1/4" at the flange face since the flange is seated inside the damper. Good time to install new guibos and center support.

Since when did they remove it on later 201's....mine is a very late 93 (so one of the last) and it has the damper just the same....in good shape though, maybe they improved it.

My 92 2.6 5spd and my 93 2.3 auto don't have. There is no such thing as a 93 190d 2.2 unless its been swapped over.

Yes it is indeed a swap. However, it was previously a 190e 2.3, and did have the damper installed, as I kept the driveline past the engine intact. Still has gasser transmission/driveshaft/differential. Only diesel parts are the engine and torque converter.

Well then you better remove it before it fails. Its not a standard piece on a 93.
