W124 300D original radiator

Which brand came originally in my '87 300D? I ask this because currently it has a Nissens and there is a slight coolant leak from the return side of the radiator. Not from where the plastic end tank meets the core but from the hose to the neck.

I'm not sure if it has ever been replaced, I would have known if I had gotten the paper work on the car but that never happened.

A new Nissens is around $201 shipped online. I do hope its not the radiator and maybe the hose. I don't want to remove the hose and break the neck.

Hmmmm, It would be odd for a fairly new radiator to fail.

Does it have the Mercedes worm clamps on it? Where the band has ridges, not cuts for the worm gear to pull on? I've had those not create a seal because they ridges wear down from being taken on and off. A clamp from napa fixed it. The upper radiator hose is like a $20 item OEM, just replace it too.

For what reason?

Hoses should be replaced with age. If he has a mysterious leak and hes taking it off, and its a cheap part, why not?

Yup, worm clamps. The upper hose feels loose. I can easily squish it and turn it a bit and it will move. I think it's not sealing anymore. I'll call my local German parts house and see if they can get a hose for me today. I ordered one and will pick it up tomorrow, hopefully, after work. $11 for a new non URO brand hose.

I think it's the hose. When the engine is hot and the hose can expand it can seal but when cool it doesn't have any flex left in it so it bleeds a bit.

My 300D has a Nissens radiator. It evidently has been replaced at one point in time.

My 420SEL and Green 300SD both have Nissens replacements installed.
