Just picked up my 3rd Mercedes - a 1987 300TD wagon. While checking it out today I noticed if I push down at the rear of car it produces a squeak. The car produces the same noise when I go over bumps.

I don't see any leaks in the SLS system or anything else - visual inspection seems ok.

What should I look at first? How do I isolate the squeak? Was thinking of having someone push down on the car while I take a hose and place it to my ear and look for the source of the noise.

Any other ideas?
