What does a dash cap installed look like?

Hey guys. I've searched for this and can't find a picture. Does it look good or does it look like a dash on top of a dash? Would a person not familiar with w123s tell that it's a dash cap? How convincible is it?

Anyone have a photo? Have a dash cap in my shopping cart at pelican parts and want to pull the trigger.

My dash color is the same as the attached picture. Pelican Parts has a blue and dark blue. I'm assuming mine is dark blue. I sent an email this morning to Pelican parts and never heard back. Guess I need to call them.

Thanks all

If installed properly, they look doggone good. You really have to look close to see that it is a cap over the original dash. I have only seen one on a 380 SEL but it really looked good. My recollection is that it was only a little apparent over near the glovebox. But not bad.

My black 126 cap is awesome...and not cheap. Looks way better than any cracked dash (and you can sell a crack free dash for premium too). Not sure if it helps but my$0.02. If you are planning to hang on to your car for a long time it's well worth it in lieu of replacing the dash.

When installed properly they can make a cracked dash 100 times better. But to me they remind me of modern cars with their plastic everything. I too like the feel of the soft foam. Thankfully I have a crack free blue dash for my 300D

I have a dash cover on mine and it looks unnoticeable. It's navy. I'll see if I can get a photo up tomorrow.

I tried a dash cap on my 124 and was unhappy. It didn't fit well and looked like a piece of plastic sitting on top of the dash. I returned it and got one of the dash mats made of soft fabric.

Well I just bought one. I will take pictures before and after the installation when the dash arrives.

Just received it. Here's a pic of the whole dash and a close up so you guys can see the texture. It's very light and thin. All plastic.

Will take a picture once it's installed as well.

I take it you didn't glue it down?

Looks good so far. Was it about $100? How do the instructions tell you to install it? Post some after pics.

These are great. I've installed many into W108/ 109s and W123s. The key is to remove your speaker covers, etc, and if your cracks have warped UP at the edges, peel them flat with a razor. CLEAN the dash with acetone, then something like 409, then clear water. I like to rough it up a bit with 100 grit sandpaper on both the mating surfaces- give the glue something to GRIP. Glue the cover down good, esp. at the defroster vents.

Like anything else- with these, good prep is key.

Tram. I wish I read your posting before installing I left the speaker grills on. Doesn't look too bad. Will post pictures sometime later today. Sitting in the car, it looks great. You can tell from the sides that its a dash cap. Overall, I'm pretty happy. Dramatic difference in my opinion.
