Yeah you should start your GM Alternator thread.

There is the 115 AL129X Bosch up grade.

"Alternator" 115 Amp Bosch AL129X works in 123s!

there is also a Bosch 143 and 150 amp alternators.

there were three HP ratings on the OM616...

1) Not much power
2) Even less power
3) Not nearly enough power!! 240D w/auto

Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast.

On my 617.950 it doesn't open until coolant reaches 200°F, which is just about never...

After a drive to frys, i opened my hood and my oil cooler was hot!

I was just worried that one of my lines was clogged or something. Thank you all for the help! This forum is the best tool in my tool box!

With oil pressure of around 100 psi, that's not real likely.

You are correct. it states in the FSM for the OM617.950...

On engine 617.950 (model 116) a 95C, 204.8F thermostat
has been installed in oil filter up to engine end no.
019718. here, thermostat control starts at approx.
95C, 204.8F and ends at approx. 110C, 230F.

I sometimes block the radiator to force the thermostat open and then drain the cooler.
