I'm trying to increase the ride in the rear of my 1985 300SD, its somewhat lowered. Does any on have any suggestions?

I had a similar complaint on my 84 SD when I first got it. The correct way to restore ride height is to replace all of the rubber in the rear of the car. This includes sub frame mounts differential mounts and coil spring pads. The pads are available in different thicknesses. I did all of this as well as replacing the trailing arm bushings. The ride quality improved substantially but the height only a little. Rather than pulling the springs out again (no fun and a little dangerous) I added 1/2 of a MR Gasket coil spring doughnut #1287 to each side. This seems to work very well.

Any Auto parts store that carries some of the MR Gasket line could order them for you. A large Speed shop or racing supply might have them on hand. I think I paid about $15.00 I seem to remember a company called Summit Performance that might let you order them on line.

Would the adjustable gas shock absorbers do the trick in raising the rear height?

i can attest to H20Diesel's fix as he did the same for my 83 300SD. Works quite well and cornering was vastly improved. I have a thumping coming from back there whenever i go over bumps, so the rubber is soon to be replaced as soon as i get money. Where ya been lately bob?

The stock Bilstiens are gas presurized and do help some. Also check your sub frame and differential mounts.

Is the tumping from worn shocks topping out?

I've been spending most of my online time on the Mercedes Unimog lisists. I think I'm going to import a couple Diesel models!

dont think so, i'ts not over major bumps, more like a constant rattle over the small stuff, nothing major, just really, really annoying

Mine has that rattle too. Worn-out shocks.
