HOW DO I PURGE AIR FROM IP TO INJECTORS 1984 2.2

I was able to change the O-Rings and crush washers below the fuel distribution valves in the IP, now I need to get the air out of the lines from IP to injectors. Need help and suggestions. Thanks

Put a charger on the battery.
Disconnect the glow plug harness from the glow plug relay.
Loosen the hard fuel lines at the injectors.
Crank until you see fuel start to leak out of all the hard lines at the injector connection.
Tighten all the hard line connections.
Plug in the glow plug harness.
Start engine.

BTW: make sure the hard lines are secured at the support points along their run. If not, the lines will start snapping off at the injectors due to vibration at 447 miles. (no need to ask how I know this) Short pieces of slit fuel hose and zip ties will work if the plastic clips are missing.

Or better yet order the proper hard line clips and rubber pads from the bird. It is critical that the hard lines receive proper support or they will fatigue and crack as Greg found out.

At least it is not as dangerous as losing fuel lines on a gas engine, that is a guaranteed car fire.

Thanks for that info Greg, but onew more question, is it not better or necessary to have someone close the line while cranking once the diesel starts to come out the line (fills the line)?
Reason i ask is id like to know if this can be done by a single person, i mean crank to purge then walk out of car to close line without letting air back in.
Many thanks and happy new year

It will purge the air from the lines automatically during starting.

I had to crank mine about 50 seconds before it started firing after doing the delivery valves, it was fully running on its own by about 65-70 seconds, smoothed out by 90.

I had also rebuilt my injectors at the same time.
