fuel line routing? 1993 300D 2.5 Turbo
I brought my 93 300D down to a local MB shop .. to fix a fuel leak. They fixed the leak, but, I'm not sure if they routed the fuel lines correctly. The car seems to have less power than before also. Does anyone happen to know the correct fuel line routing in the engine for a 1993 300D 2.5 turbo? There's what I think is a fuel boost pump? Mechanical fuel pump that seems to have 4 hose connects to it .. but, it looks like they short circuted two of the connections? It's got to be incorrect? I'm attaching photos. Thanks, Richard

Yes, the "Fuel Thermostat" Diesel Pre-Heater is T.U.
(Tango Uniform) "Out of Service"
They've got "One" of the "Tank" lines (Either FUEL or Return ?) From/To the Tank "Piped"/"Hosed" DIRECTLY to the "Lift Pump" on the side of the I.P. (Not having the Thermostat in the Circuit is no big deal in Temperate Climes.) There IS an Outside Chance the "Muffin Heads" Plumbed the FUEL TANK RETURN LINE into the "Lift Pump" Intake, which would explain the lack of OOMPH. Follow the rubber Fuel line from the Lift Pump (Through the Primary Fuel Filter. The Little one in your picture) to the metal fuel line(S) (stacked vertically,in a rubber isolator) on the Driver's side engine compartment wall. The Fuel FEED line from the Tank is the Lower metal line.It has a 45 degree Horizontal bend towards the Lift pump on it's end. The Fuel RETURN line is the Upper of the two and has a 90 degree upwards bend at the end. Less than Airtight hose connections will allow the Lift Pump to "Suck Air" at the connection, which will also decrease power. A clogged Fuel Tank Vent will affect performance. An 8 ounce container of Startron Diesel Fuel Enzyme treatment in your Diesel will not hurt!!!! Especially if you've got FUNGUS in the Tank!!!! If the Fuel Leak WAS the Fuel Thermostat (Notorious for the Rubber sealing o-ring leaking) it's any easy quick FIX. 1.Remove the C clip securing the White Plastico fuel hose nipple on the front of the thermostat.(Tension the nipple inwards) 2.Remove the Nipple.(Careful of the innards Leaping out they're spring loaded.) 3.Remove the Rubber O-ring and replace. Re-Assembly is the reverse.
