I really don't know. It seems to me that imitating the original plate, but without the hole, would be the best. That would mean a piece of (approximately) 1/4-inch thick steel with two bolt holes drilled in it. Thinner stuff might work too, but I haven't had time to experiment yet - I'm still trying to resolve my prechamber problem!
