Oil filter Housing Shaft O rings size?
Sorry if this is a repost or topic that is always brought up. But what size are those two little o rings on the oil filter housing shaft? I need to replace, last time I just got some that appeared to fit, think they were standard size not metric.
Just trying to do it right... On a side note, do these o rings have any relationship to how fast the oil pressure builds? |

You can use 6x10x2 for both.

^ Yes, some times I also use a 7 for the upper one, but usually just two 6's.

Autozone sells a Metric O-ring assortment made by Dorman for less than $8.
Dorman Metric 172 piece O-ring Value Pack #799-450 In it are 24 of the 6mmIDx10mmODx2mmW O-rings that you need for the bottom of the Oil Filter Stem: enough for 12 Oil Filter Changes as you need 2 O-rings each time you change it. This kit also has the 7x10x2mm O-ring that can be used in the upper groove (I use the 7mm one there). If you use that you will have enough O-rings for 24 Changes. The 10mmIDx17mmODx2.5mm in the kit fits the bottom of the Filter Bolt; you get 24 of those in the kit. I bought My kit 4 years ago and it was $8 at that time. |

and the 7mm ID o-ring will have an 11mm OD, not 10... |

On 617.952s you can substitute a 7mmx11mmx2mm in the upper groove on the Oil Filter Tube. The 10mmIDx17mmODx2.5mm in the kit fits the bottom of the Filter Bolt, there is no O-ring in the Dorman Metric O-ring assortment that fits the Top O-ring on the Filter Bolt |

I read this thread with MUCH interest because the case of oil filters I ordered for the 96 e300 came without the required 3 o rings for the oil filter housing/cover and shaft- and when I priced them recently, was quoted $9.75 plus shipping UPS ground for the large one alone.
I don't think I'm hijacking this thread by asking if anyone could please, please list a cross reference, or size, or part number to cross for the orings for the oil filter housing (big one) and the two smaller ones for the OM606 in our 96 E300. I'd REALLY appreciate it. As for the oil pressure o-ring question, yes failed orings can cause a drop in oil pressure- and if the big one up top leaks you will have one H*LL of a mess. Ask me how I know... |

It would be easier were you to provide the chassis number, available here: http://static.zoovy.com/merchant/epsparts/Mercedes_Chassis.htm |
