Squiggle Dog has stated that he thinks that the alternator I got from him has bad slip rings, so where could I buy some if this is the case? If they're not too bad, could the local alternator/starter shop grind them down for me?

A good auto electrical shop could machine or replace the slip rings.

I rebuild starters, Generators, and alternators. I can get you the slip ring and or repair your unit. PM me with the details of what you are working on. I didnt know MB had a 55 amp alt in a diesel
