I am putting together a study to help people make a choice when buying an older Mercedes diesel, from the W115 to the W210. So far I worked on maintenance costs and fuel economy, so now I am at the depreciation stage.
For all owners out there, I need the following information: *Cost of your car brand new. *Market value of your car five years ago. *Current market value of your car. As an assumption, I want to get as close to a car with 150k miles currently (or 100k miles five years ago) as possible. Here are the models: -W115 Diesel. -W116 Diesel. -W123 Diesel sedan (can be 240D or 300D). -W123 Diesel wagon. -W124 with the OM606. -W124 with the OM603. -W124 Diesel wagon. -W126 Diesel (300SD). -W126 Diesel (300SDL/350SDL). -W140 Diesel. -W210 Diesel. As an "average car" I chose the '95 models for the Honda Civic and the Toyota Camry. If anyone has the same figures for these cars, let me know as well! Thanks a lot! If everything goes smoothly, the study will be published in a few days!

My 1985 300d was around 35k new (I have 0riginal purchase receipt from PO, but I don't remember the exact amount). I paid 1100 for it in july 2012. That's all the info I know off the top of my head. Oh, it has 201k miles

Database?
Did someone say database?
If I had a Linux server available, I could do this for you..... Anyone have a Linux server that wants to crave a tunnel into their firewall for me?

50K for the SDL. Wow!
Which of these cars was the most expensive originally? My 84 300SD was 38K new & I bought it off craiglist for 2,500. It was the third one I had taken to a MB indy; the first two had lots of problems and the third time was the charm ![]() Jeff

Thanks for all the answers so far! From all the diesels, the most expensive one when new was the W140 300SD, at 66k. It was, however, the cheapest W140 in the entire lineage of that particular model...
