after the first "meeting" I'd insist on a 250.00 deposit up front to meet again.
amazing how the vehicle getting expensive changes the attentiveness...

I would only have gone back because I felt sorry for the car.
In this case, it sure would have been fun to have a 'cell-jammer'!

Happy Motoring, Mark

Just bring a canned air horn with you to service calls now. If they are on their phone, keep blasting it till they stop.

Makes you wonder how many other things in life he missed. I would hate to see what he would be like during the birth of one of his kids. I am sure on the phone and in and out of the room. Maybe even leave the hospital forgetting there was a birth going on!

X2.

Such people are never deserving of help. I would have bailed after the first encounter.

The average person is a moron.

That is just plain rude! Although, you wouldn't believe how self centered people are. I ride the commuter bus into Down Town LA and just yesterday, some kid rushed aboard the 5pm bus, despite several ladies who were clearly waiting before him; he was oblivious with these huge headphones listening to blaring music. This morning I happened to see a 'hipster' on his phone walking his toy dog that did its business on the middle of the sidewalk...he had no interest in picking up after his pet. Sadly, this is the type of world we live in...

I would have given him 10 minutes to finish his call before I got in my car and left.

I apologize but my generation's stupidity is infinite. At least I was raised with a little common decency.

Being 28...I can attest to everything that is said....with the birth of the internet....the world changed big time....we no longer have social meeting places like days of past....coffee shops...soda fountains....everything is virtual now....you want friends....go to Facebook...now you have friends...if you want to chat with a friend go on Skype....when its time to mate...go to Craigslist personals....and then meet but just for sex! Then go back to the virtual world.....face to face conversation, meeting friends out in the world is non existent......another thing that we also lost was youth hobbies.....try to find someone in my age range that likes to work on cars or has a hobby besides TV....its not easy....when I was in California you would believe how many people in their 20s that have never been to a beach....

Heck, some of them don't even need craigslist personals since the invention of the fleshlight.

No arguing that you have a true love for these cars. Kudos to you for being the kind hearted and patient person you seem to be. definitely a vanishing breed.

(a) roared as loudly as I could "ARE YA DONE YET?", or
(b) grabbed the phone and launched it across the parking lot.

The whole phone addiction thing is getting ridiculous. I have a friend who works in an upscale bar. They have had to fire waitresses for using their phones not just while at work, but while walking across the floor to a table with a full tray.

Walking with a tray of drinks in one hand, texting or updating on FaceBook on the other.

Aside: when did you get Tim Hortons Stateside?

House call, road service, and other.
MB, Rolls Royce, Bentley, pre-WWII vehicles.

I frequently meet people at this location.
* To determine general vehicle condition.
* Sort out good vehicle owners from bad abusive machine operators.
* More than a few are disappointed when I point out massive critical structural corrosion, and suggest serious body repairs or replacing the vehicle.

You might be surprised at the number of local (lurker) forum members I have helped there.
