W201 / 190 manual tranny question
Opportunity to purchase a 190D manual tranny setup. Car has 98K miles and has been sitting after a wreck with the engine out but the hood in place for 12 years. Is there any reason to believe there would be problems with the manual tranny after 12 years of inactivity?
Here's a picture of the front. Obviously the throw out bearing needs refreshing. Anything else to expect or look for? Clutch slave and master cylinders? Any seals on the tranny? Thanks!

The Slave and master cylinders I would buy replacements for due to age of seals ,it will save you time and money. The manuel trans for the 190s I was told uses reg trannie fluid ,maybe specific to mb ,not gear oil ,I m looking to change the fluid in my gear box on my 190e when I found out this interesting detail .

I'm really revealing my ignorance here but are these hydraulic clutches ? So you need the master cylinder from the car share the brake fluid with the clutch slave cylinder?
How long does a manual swap take if you have the parts / donor car ? Thanks

Yes, clutch master gets fluid from the brake resevoir As for time, having assisted someone on this swap before and with all needed parts on hand I could do it over a weekend. Some on this forum probably knock it out in 4 hours. Normally my weekend projects runs across 2 weekends as I'm always in need of a part I didn't anticipate needing replacement.
