AL129X belt question

There is tons of information on the AL129X alternator mod.

I have successfully completed the mod on my 83 300Sd lasts year. Now I am wondering about the belts. They are still the stock size.

Has anyone tinkered and figured out a better sized belt so that you don't' have to undo the whole entire AL129X alternator every time you want to remove/change a belt?

Or at least point me in the right direction of a search.

Appreciated.

on the 83 and up SD's the belt stock is either 975 or 1000, and damn near impossible to install on the 129 alt... I'd think a 1015 should fit, and be adjustable with the tensioner adjust...

The catalog shows a 10 X 1035 for a 83 300SD and a 85 300D.

When I installed my AL-129-X I just used the stock belt.

I went back & forth from the parts store to get the "right" belt I can't remember the number offhand. Something for an old Jeep.

I have the stock 10x1000 and it was quite the fit, one of the other posts in another forum on this site gave me a good clue as to how to get it all back together.

If they are cheap enough I might try the 1035 and one size up from that.
