Need help with front engine stop adjustment on 83 240D
I posted this on another forum but it has languished there -- lots of views but no replies -- so I thought I would try here.
I am planning on replacing the rear(aka transmission mount) on my 83 240D withThe FSM procedure includes loosening the front engine stop for removal of the old mount and then adjusting the stop using a "shop-made" gauge (made with 1.5mm steel/16gauge) as the final step after the new mount has been installed. I don't have the capability to make this gauge but could probably find a machine shop to fabricate it if the cost wasn't too high. Has anyone done this procedure? How critical is this adjustment? From my searches of the forum there is no mention of this adjustment. Only vehicles without engine (some manual 240Ds) have this front engine stop. Does anyone: 1) know where I could get one? 2) know what it would cost to have one fabricated? Thanks for your help. |
