$1500.00 into 1983 300D Engine ??

I sold my old Mazda van and now have the money to put into the 300D. So what are your suggestions to pro-long the engine of my 150k mile diesel engine. Valve adjustment, new valve job? Timing Chain Check? Everything seems to work fine now. It has all new belts, oil, filters...

Why spend anything.

I would only adjust valves if it has been a while and check chain stretch while doing it (by eyeballing which may not or not be completely adequate as previously posted). If you get a pro to do it, it should set you back an hour's labor for adjustment and dial indicated chain stretch assessment.

This assumes that all other running issues and fluid changes intervals are fine.

Good luck.

Well, if this thing has even had it's oil changed at 10K mile intervals, it's still a baby. No need to check the chain stretch, but go ahead while your adjusting the valves. Don't fix what isn't broken (ie: valve job).

I am about to change every filter on my 300SDL tommorow just for routine maint. (Oil, (2) fuel, air and tranny).
