92 300D EXHAUST SMELL INSIDE

Hi Folks

I have a 92 300D and since it came back from the body shop after my accident there is a hint of exhaust or diesel type smell in the car, especially while standing at lights and such. I do not recall this happening before. There are no evident exhaust leaks that i noticed right away.
Where is the air intake in this car for the cabin? Additionally does any one else have any idea what could be causing this? Are there common causes for this or has anyone experienced this before.
Its not bad enough to make you get out but noticeable after about a minute
Thanks as always in Advance

well, is it a diesel smell or an exhaust smell? exhaust gasses can come from ANYWHERE! you may have a tear in your trunk sucking in fumes, a cracked tail light might do it.
if it's from the front, it could be turbo, exhaust manifold, down pipe, cat weld... pretty much anywhere.

if it's fuel smell, I'd inspect the lines running along the driver's side of the car, check the filters, the IP, the delivery valves... again, it could be anywhere.

figure out which smell it is first.

If you cannot find it yourself try a good muffler shop. Where there is leakage there can be noise as well . Make sure it is not oil going down on the exhaust manifolds as well.

For example one individual changed the engine mount and he neglected to retighten the header pipe down afterwords. I drove the car 1000 miles or so home with the blower on to keep the smell and fumes out of the cabin.

The flange connection was not very loose. On the way home I stopped at two muffler shops to have the source found and eliminated. They both pleaded no parts in stock and did not even put the car up on a hoist.
