280E Automatic and 240D Automatic Transmission X-mount is the same part.
Installing a 240D manual transmission into a W123 300D, the 240D automatic transmission X-mount is the one to use. It lines up perfect to the next set of holes in the tunnel.
Last week I was in one of the PNP`s and there was this 77 280E automatic. Iam laying under the car thinking, maybe the Trans X-mount just might be the one to line up when installing a manual 5-spd. 6 cylinder engine and auto trans...just maybe it could be the one... So whipped off the 6 bolts and off I went. Today I pulled it out of the platic bag ( Greasy) and put it in the pile of stuff to degrease, and noticed a 240 mount laying there. layed one on top the other and they are the same exact mount. I have read a lot of 4-spd swap threads, and never was the 280E mount mentioned, just the 240D mount. so we have one more source for this mount. Now Iam thinking of all the 280E and CE`s that have passed through the yards and the mounts I have passed up. Charlie

Good to know, especially since I am hunting for one to replace the mangled one holding up the 4-speed in my 300D.
