@ytmtnman
Thank you for that photo. Now here is the dilemma, on toomany MBZ's photo above there is not a cutout. He has a 300CD like mine. I may have the wrong type of panel. Maybe I should try to find a panel with no cutout. Aside from painting, I think this would be the best and easiest route. @toomany MBZ What do you think? Do I have the wrong panel? Your 84', if that is a picture from your 84', should be exactly like mine. I have a print out of the wiper assembly all the way to the motor and it does not show a drain part like what is in ytmtnman's photos. I appreciate all of the help. This site is awesome. |

The cutout is there, just hidden under the wiper arm bolt flappy cover thingy. When the cap is pried up it should become apparent.

Thanks. You're right, because now I recall seeing this cutout in other CD's as well. Now where is a good place that I could pick up this drain? Dealer? Junk yard? It's so odd that this is missing. I checked underneath my mats and luckily I didn't find any rust. |

Assuming it is not coupe specific, I have one from my parts car you can have. I would go used for that part any day. It's not really a wear item.

@KAdams4458
I would appreciate that very much and would pay shipping cost right away. I'm going to stop by my mechanic tomorrow to see if he has that part, if not I will take you up on that offer. Thank you. |

No problem, just let me know. I already pulled the wiper motor and linkages out of the parts car, so that drain is loose somewhere in the cabin or trunk. I just have to dig around for it.

Yeah, that's my 84 CD.
As you can see, I don't have those "smile" holes, at least that I can tell. The epc shows just one center cover for the 123.153, coupe and 123.133 turbo sedan. Maybe replace those things over the nut assembly, part #123 824 00 72.

That is odd that some models have these holes and some don't. When I stopped by the dealer to pick up the cap that goes over the nut assembly, they told me that it was no longer available. In that same picture they don't show that drain piece anywhere on the wiper assembly. |

Ok, here is where I'm at. I stopped by my mechanic and he allowed me to raid parts and this is what I found attached to that cover where the foam on my car was missing. ![]() ![]() Apparently, the original that was suppose to be on my car was either misplaced or rattled loose and fell down here. ![]() ![]() ![]() When I stuck something underneath the wiper motor to try and retrieve what appeared to be my drain, it felt sticky. That's either my drain and it has melted (highly unlikely) or that is some type of gasket or seal of some sort. What I'm trying to figure out is should I use this particular drain from my mechanic's parts car, which I would have to glue back on, or should I pick up a draining system that ytmtnman has on his car? Which also appears to be a better design. Decisions, decisions. What do you think guys? toomany MBZ, You most likely have this type of drain as well. When I grabbed one out of my mechanic's parts car, it was clogged pretty bad. I know this is a parts car, but it would be a good idea to take a look at this piece. What a shame ours are glued on instead of an individual attachment like ytmtnman's. |

I can't figure out why any model would have only a single spout on a drain beneath the passenger side wiper. seems silly to me. attack of the bean counters?
Both my '77 and '83 parts car are equipped with the double drain that bolts in place. Maybe this is some kind of coupe thing.

KAdams4458,
The donor car was a 300D. It is odd, and I'm leaning towards the bolt on double drain design. |

Thanks everyone for all the help. A week ago, we had some really good rain down here in Florida and I'm glad to say that the interior of the CD came out of that event dry. That drain solved the problem. Now I'm going to have to replace a rusty accelerator pedal.
