Hood latches won't latch w126
I figure there must be something very obvious that I'm missing here.
I've been working on this car for a long time but have not removed the hood latches or cable. I did remove the hood itself and when I put it back on it simply would not latch all the way shut. I can push the latches down with a screwdriver, they move just fine but they never 'click' and hold the down position, they just spring right back up. In case you were wondering, the hood latches worked just fine before I worked on the car. Any ideas?

Ok, it just needed a serious cleaning so the parts could move.
Vice grips on the screwdriver to break the paint loose and then about a can of brake cleaner to get the grime out. Then PB blaster to loosen/lubricate it. Working good now.

You'll probably want to put some sort of grease on there soon since the pb is pretty much just a penetrant that will evaporate pretty quick.
